According to the blurb Effect3D Studio provides designers of all levels the ability to create professional looking 3D animated graphics but I would suggest this is a bit of an exaggeration. The interface is clean and user friendly but unique to the product so inexperienced users would have a high cognitive load in utilizing it for the first time. There is a real-time 3D preview window which provides a WYSIWYG editing environment and to add effects it is simple to drag-and-drop from galleries of backgrounds, 3D objects, rendering effects, material settings, lighting and animation effects but it could take a couple of hours for inexperienced users to get the hang of it first.

Effect3D Studio offers an import facility for photos and graphics as well. These images can then be used as backgrounds or they can be imported as 3d objects and then animated like the ones in the provided galleries.

Effect3D Studio uses a combination of FFD (free-form deformation), RTS (rotate, transform, scale), and animated lighting so 3D objects can bow, dance, or even do the hula-hula! Some 3D objects in the gallery also include embedded animation's designed specifically for a particular object.

Okay I created this animated gif in approximately five minutes using this program. It was 125k in file size and now it is approximately 20k in file size so the download time for the Internet should be quite quick. However, I was unable to sufficiently optimize the gif using Effect3D Studio and had to run the file through separate optimizing software. Just a small point but an important one. If you're anything like me you collect software oddments so you should have an animated gif optimizer in amongst your collection somewhere and this shouldn't cause too much of a problem. But if you don't have one you could be looking at high load times for the Internet.

Overall I would like to give this product a thumbs up because what it does is quite nifty but I can't quite bring myself to recommend it because I feel it is an expensive way to make 3d animated gifs. In short there are other superior and cheaper products out there. I feel this one may prove worthwhile keeping an eye on for future revisions. Reallusion will get it right eventually I'm sure.
